Go to all sermons...

Sunday we were challenged with a question by magician/illusionist Penn Jillette where he asks “How much do you have to hate somebody to not proselytize? How much do you have to hate someone to believe everlasting life is possible and not tell them that?”

At the core of that question for us as believers in Jesus, perhaps lies a deeper question. Do I believe that the gospel is true? If the gospel is true, meaning that we’re in a worldwide rebellion against God, and only Jesus can save us from this, should this not have a huge impact on our lives. Because if it’s true, how can we not tell others?

So this morning NSC, I encourage us all to wrestle long and hard with this question. Do we believe we’re dead in our sin, and our only hope is through Christ? And do we believe that as far as the east is from the west, so far has Christ removed our sin from us? Because if that is true, how we can keep quiet about it? If this news is for the world, how unloving are we if we are not sharing this with those around us? Or as Jillette asks, how much do you have to hate people to keep this to yourself?

So this morning again, I encourage us to all be praying for the opportunity to lead one person into this life changing love this year, praying to bring someone to know Christ personally. May we see our God at work, as we step out in boldness!!
