Midweek Wake-Up, June 6th, 2018
On Sunday we pondered in our church service the first song we find in the Bible (Exodus 15). On Monday, many of us concluded Blake’s funeral service by singing the first song Blake heard after coming to faith a couple of years ago. Music and song are one of God’s providential gifts to all peoples everywhere. However, when a person becomes a believer the gift of music and song becomes a beautiful means of grace that God uses to encourage, challenge, strengthen and bless His children. After listening to the song by Matt Papa “His mercy is more” Blake commented how special those words were. Blake richly enjoyed singing the words whenever we sang them together as a church. We also sang those words at Blake’s baptism. And now we have sung them, with thanksgiving in remembrance of Blake.
Below is the link to the video that introduced the song to Blake the hour he believed. Take three minutes today to find a quiet place to watch the video and meditate on the words. They are profoundly simple and wonderful! And when we sing this song together as a church, remember how special the words were to Blake who came to know that his sins were many but God’s mercy was more. Blake, himself, is now enjoying the reality of these words in an altogether wonderful way.
