No wonder the disciples were more terrified after the tumultuous storm was calmed by Jesus then than they were when the storm raged (Mark 4:41).  After all, it was one thing to be in the boat with a life-threatening storm raging against it, but another thing altogether to be sharing that boat with the man who was in complete control of the storm!  A man who could calm the storm simply by saying a few words!  Rightly, do the disciples exclaim  “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?” The startling truth was that Almighty God was in the boat with them.

As we walk into a new year we need a fresh view of who Jesus is more than ever?   What if we were able to grasp afresh that Jesus has sovereign authority over every storm we will face in this coming year.  And what if we were gripped by the reality that Jesus is with us through every storm?  And what if we comprehended anew the care, concern and love that Jesus always has for His children?  May God graciously help each of us to trust in King Jesus more in 2019.
