Simeon’s Song: Dying Well in Order to Live Well

December 20, 2015

Bible Text: Luke 2:29-35 |

Christmas is a time of year when our thoughts often turn to peace. We talk about opposing armies coming together to sing Christmas carols in the midst of war. But many of us struggle to live at peace, with our family, with ourselves, and with God. The good news is that God's Son, the Prince of Peace, came to make us right with God, and give us peace. Long ago, the prophet Simeon grasped this as he declared that he could die in peace, after having seen God's salvation, the baby Jesus. Understanding this peace will begin a transformation our lives. Simeon knew what it was to die well, freeing him to live well.
