Pain Before Gain
We often get used to the status quo. We don’t want to rock the boat, even though through short-term pain we can experience long-term gain. The Israelite were in this same boat. When Moses asks Pharaoh to let the Israelites go, Pharaoh makes it harder on them. The Israelites in turn unjustly blame Moses for this and then Moses blames God. The Israelites were unable to look past their own circumstances to see the reward they would receive if they persevered. We too are often content with our present state even though God is calling us to something more, and we must persevere even though it may be challenging.
